Yazmin Barreto
Since the moment that I walked through the Casa doors, I have been deeply humbled. I am amazed at how much has been accomplished in the seven years of Casa’s inception. However, I am sure that none of it would have been possible without Donna and Miguel’s hard work and dedication, as well as every other angel who has lent a hand to the daycare.
I’m a graduate student at Boston College, majoring in Global Social Work with a Macro concentration. Completing my internship here at Casa, is the last step towards receiving my degree in May. My main focus while at the daycare is to assist with the administrative aspects like grant writing, fundraising, and providing workshops for the women.
Throughout my time here I hope to touch the children, women, and staff’s lives just as they have already done so in mine. I have been accepted into this community of care with arms wide open. I am truly grateful to have this opportunity and to be able to share it with the rest of you.
