Bob & Maryann True

Bob y Maryann
Our first trip to San Miguel de Allende and Casa de los Angeles was in February, 2002, just a few months from the time it was opened. There we met many beautiful brown eyed children in need of nurturing, but giving more love than they received. We were somewhat uncertain about how we should proceed, but after a few minutes in the nursery it became very clear – just sit in a rocker and wait. In no time there were one, two or even three little ones on our laps just wanting to cuddle. Noses needed wiping, shoes needed tying, mouths needed feeding.
During three subsequent visits, we have been blown away by the progress and changes that have transpired: heaters in the classrooms, a toddler sized bathroom, beautiful art creations on the courtyard walls, the “tree-house” office, a remodeled kitchen, the after-school program, a transitional housing six-unit apartment, the bathroom and construction projects, and organized classrooms and curriculum. The list, all carried out so efficiently in a relatively short period of time, goes on and on. One thing never changes: the beautiful brown eyes and smiling faces. That’s what makes Casa de los Angeles feel like home to the many volunteers who visit her.
